A mixed of culture and adventure to enjoy Moroccan beautiful landscape, meet the Berbers womens in the Atlas Mountains & nomads women in the Sahara desert. TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
Itinerary: Day 1: Marrakech. Arrive to Marrakech airport, welcome by our guide with flowers and bottled water, transfer to the riad at the heart of the Medina or Villa outside the city. Overnight at Riad Zayane Atlas / similar. Day 2 : Marrakech. After breakfast, set off for half day guided visit of Marrakech’s most famous historical sites including Bahia Palace, Saadiens Tombs, Koutoubia Garden, Souks and the famous square Jemaa Elfna, there are of couse enormous sights to visit in the old Medina with ancient walls, decorative gates and and more than 20 giants gates leaving to the heart of the Medina where people use to live their traditional lives. Optional horse carriage tour in the afternoon 1-2hrs to visit Majorelle Garden (extra). Free time in the afternoon. Overnight at Riad Zayane Atlas / similar. Day 3: Marrakech – Ait Benhadou – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges. 360km Depart from Marrakech at 8:00 am on a comfortable & AC Minivan heading to southern Morocco crossing the pass Tizi n’Tichka (2260m) the highest road mountain pass in Morocco, enjoy spectacular views of the surroundings areas including the zigzagging road, Imouzzar and Taddart valley with its authentic Berber villages, stop on the way for photos and drinks if needed. After the pass, take a secondary road towards Teouat to visit the Pacha Galoui’s Kasbah, partly ruined and abandoned since the 40ies, continue to the famous fortified Ksars & Kasbahs of Aït Benhaddou, where several international movies were filmed including the Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, the Bible, the game of thrones and much more. Continue to Ouarzazate, called also the Gate of the desert, optional visit to the movie studio and then drive along the road of 1000 kasbahs passing via Kelaat Mgouna where you will have a break if you would like to have a look at the Roses product cooperative, this where they grow up roses and make cosmetic products especially for womens, drive again to Dades gorges for the night. Overnight at Riad Panorama / Riad Babylon. Day 4 : Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi. 170km After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Todra gorges for a short walk in the valley and then towards to Merzouga through several beautiful desert towns; Tinjdad, Erfoud & Rissani, arrival to Merzouga. |
Get ready for the camel trek from Merzouga to Erg Chebbi (1.30hr), overnight at the luxury nomadic camp in the heart of the highest dunes in Morocco (150m of high), you will be able to see the sunset if the sky is clear.
Berber dinner with little entertainment and drum party, enjoy the stars from the dunes at night before going to bed. Overnight at the Luxury Nomadic camp. Day 5: Merzouga – Draa valley - Ouarzazate. 360km Wake up early to enjoy the views of sunrise, breakfast on site and then set off for the camel ride back to the town, drive through Alnif, Tazzarine & a part of the long Draa valley wher you could do a walk through its palm groves and Kasbahs, visit Tamnougalt Kasbah in Agdez and then cross Tizi n’Ait Saoun to join the road leading to Ouarzazate. Overnight at Riad Bouchedor / Dar Chamaa. Day 6: Ouarzazate - Imlil valley 1740m (High Atlas Mountains (1740m). After breakfast, drive through Taliouine to visit Berber carpet weaving a social projuct for Berber womens where they produce hunderds of handmade carpets based on natural ingrediens, continue to Taliouine to visit Safran cooperative and then head towards Tizi n'Test with great views over the valleys, down to Ijoukak and Asni, continue to Imlil valley at the heart of the High Atlas Mountains. Possible visit the Association “Tamgharte n’Oudrar” the women of the Mountains, to see how the berber women works in the Atlas Mountains. Overnight at Riad Jnane Imlil (with siwmming pool, please read the terms and conditions at the bottom of the web page). Day 7: Imlil valley (High Atlas Mountains) – Marrakech. After breakfast, set off for a day trek through the Berber villages and waterfalls, cross a pine forest and enjoy great views over Mt Toubkal summit, the highest peak in North Africa (4167m) and also over the whole Imlil valley, lunch by the river, and trek back to the Riad on the afternoon. Optional visit to Argan Oil women cooperative to see how they extract the oil from Argan fruits and make cosmetic products for womens. Experience a Berber traditional Hammam at the Riad Jnane Imlil (9€ pp). 4-5hrs walking. Transfer to Marrakech at the end of the day. Overnight at Riad Zayane Atlas / similar. Day 8: Marrakech. Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to the airport for the return flight. Have a safe flight back home. |
