Atlas Ski Holidays M'goun & Toubkal MountainsThe M'Goun region is located about 250 km from Marrakech in the High Atlas, to the east of the more famous Toubkal massif.
Its highest point, M'Goun, rises to 4,068 m, the second highest peak in Morocco. Many peaks exceed 3500 m. Much wilder than the Toubkal massif, some compare it to a small kingdom in the Himalayas when you access it from the North. The paved road for only a few years has considerably opened up this region which could remain isolated from the rest of Morocco for 4 months during the winter. |

ITINERARY:
DAY1: MARRAKECH
Flight to Marrakech. Transfer to the Riad in the Heart of Medina or in a 4-star hotel near the city center. evening free time to stroll the red city.
Meet the group at the restaurant for the dinner around 8pm.
Accommodation: Riad / Hotel 4*.
Meals included: - Dinner.
DAY2: MARRAKECH - AGOUTI
After breakfast at the Riad in Marrakech transfer to Azilal then Agouti by a good road (about 5 hours journey). We are in the Bougmez valley. This region has long been away from tourist circuits because of its distance from the big cities and the isolation of its deep valleys, difficult to access, especially when the mountain is snowy. However, man has occupied the high valleys since ancient times, practicing a vital pastoral activity for this Berber people, proud of their traditions: villages are sometimes located several days' walk from main roads. And if the carriageways inexorably nibble on this preserved space, they contribute to improving the living conditions of the inhabitants. This slow transformation does not affect the tranquility of the place.
Tourism develops there discreetly, with the wisdom of the pilgrim who knows the long road.
A stroll in the valley allows you to relax your legs, meet the locals and discover their way of life.
Transfer: 4 to 5 h & 2 to 3 hours of walking.

DAY3: AGOUTI - TARKEDIT TRAY
Ascent in the valley to Arous n'Oufella. The mule track then joins the Ikkis pastures, huddled at the foot of the Timaramatiyn circus. Azibs Ikkis, rising from the ravine towards the Aghouwri, on the crest line of the powerful barrier of Tarkedit. Crossing the shoulder of the Aghouwri (around 3400 m) to descend to the great plateau of the sources of the Tessaout, Tilibit n’Tarkedit. Installation for two nights at the Tarkedit guarded refuge (2950 m).
Positive elevation: 1640 m. Vertical drop: 460 m. 5 to 6 hours of ski touring.
Accommodation: M'Goun Hut.

DAY4: M'GOUN ASCENT.
Mt M’Goun Ascent, also called Oumsoud, the highest point in the central High Atlas (4068 m). To do this, you will have to climb a beautiful, deep valley which leads to the first summit (4008 m) of a long ridge ridge, more or less horizontal. Fantastic overview shared between the Atlas chains and the desert as far as the eye can see, to the south. A big descent by beautiful sustained slopes leads back to the refuge.
Positive elevation: 1200 m. Vertical drop: 1200 m. 5 to 6 hours of ski touring.

DAY5: TARKEDIT (3400 M) - DJEBEL TIFDANIWINE (3450 M)
After going up to Tarkedit (3400 m), descent at the foot of the Tifdaniwine, which we go up in a vast mineral circus. Beautiful snow valleys on the descent to reach the rich Bougmez valley. Night in a quality gite in Agouti.
Positive elevation: 800 m. Vertical drop: 1600 m. 5 to 6 hours of ski touring.
Accommodation: Berber house at the village.

DAY6: BOUGMEZ - IMLIL VALLEY (TOUBKAL FOOT)
Quiet breakfast. meet the driver and transfer to the Imlil valley in the heart of the high atlas Mountains, in the foothill of Toubkal Mountains, arrive and check-in at Riad in Imlil valley www.riadjnaneimlil.com.
A short walk in the valley, through the Berber villages and waterfalls, allows you to stretch your legs and have an overview of the Toubkal mountains.
Positive elevation: 450. Negative elevation: 450. 2 to 3 hours of walking.
Possibility of beldi hammam at the gîte (indicative price: 50 dhs per person).
Accommodation: Charming Riad with ensuite rooms.
Meals included: - Breakfast- Lunch - Dinner.
Day7: IMLIL VALLEY- TOUBKAL HUT
The climb to the Toubkal Hut begins by following the canals which irrigate the terraced crops. After the midday break in the small village (and marabout) of Sidi Chamarouch, the mountain becomes more arid. Snow is generally there; at this time, porters take over from the mules.
Installation at the Toubkal Hut at 3207m high, for two nights. This refuge is guarded all winter; dormitories, toilets and showers, common room with fireplace.
Positive elevation: 1200 m. 4 to 5 hours of ski touring.
M: 1200 m, partly on foot partly on skis.
Accommodation: Toubkal Hut.
Meals included: - Breakfast- Lunch - Dinner.
Day8: OUANOUKRIM (4088 M)
The assif n’Aït Mizane valley, initially very gentle - a beautiful view of the Akioud needles, at 4,030 meters -, gives access via a steeper slope to the tizi n’Ouagane (3,750 m). Around 3850 meters, you have to take off your shoes and sometimes use your hands for a few passages between snow and rocks; fun and without any particular difficulty. The suite is gently sloping, regular; a remarkable panoramic route. We climb first to Timesguida n'Ouanoukrim, “the Ouanoukrim mosque”, then once back in the saddle between the two peaks, it is tempting to also climb Ras Ouanoukrim (there again, it may be necessary to help yourself a little with your hands). Second night at the Hut.

Accommodation: Toubkal Hut.

DAY9: TOUBKAL ASCENT (4167 M) - MARRAKECH
Departure early in the morning for the summit of Toubkal. A steep slope just above the refuge leads us to the foot of a series of valleys, which we go up to the foot of the summit ridge. With the skis on the bag, we will reach the summit on foot. From the pass, descend by the north Ikhibi. Very little used, this valley offers a great and superb descent up to around 2500 meters and brings us almost to Sidi Chamarouch. From there, there are two short hours on foot to reach Imlil.
Return to Marrakech and stay in a 4-star hotel. The evening remains to appreciate the charm of the Djemaa el-Fna square and the riches of the “red city”, very lively after the calm of the mountains.
D: 1500 m on skis (depending on snow) and 800 m on foot.
Positive elevation: 800 m. Vertical drop: 2100 m. 5 to 6 hours of ski touring.

DAY10: MARRAKECH - HOME.
