Mgoun Trek and the Spectacular villages of the Happy Valley Ait Bougmez 9 Days
We designed this trek to dive in the countryside for several consecutive days. Itinerant marches in autonomy, far from any infrastructure.
Level 4: (on average) walk 6 hours per day on the trail and off-trail and 700 to 1,000 meters of positive elevation approximately and/or 15 to 18 kilometers. Possibility of passages in altitude. Walk on mule tracks and partially off-road for the M'Goun summit. Essential: trips or essential sites in the country or region. Summits: Prestigious summits of 3,000 to 6,000 meters: a volcano or a glacial peak, more or less difficult climbs in the heart of the most beautiful mountains of the globe. TREK HIGHLIGHTS
Day1: MARRAKECH Airport. Arrival, meet by our Guide and transfer to the Riad in the Medina. Overnight at the Riad /Hotel 4*. Day 2: MARRAKECH - VALLEY OF AÏT BOULLI - ROUGOULT (1900 M)4hrs drive. After breakfast at the Riad, pick up at 8 am and drive to the central High Atlas via Demnate: magnificent views of the mountain and its valleys. Meet with our team of muleteers and the Cook at Aït Boulli (literally "people who have herds of goats and sheep") lunch, and start our trek up to the valley. Villages of red earth, many walnut trees, passage to Tazegzaout, then the Aqua n'Daghour and its terraced crops to go to the village of Rougoult. Dinner and night at Camp near the village. The positive difference in height: 400 m. 3 hours of walking. Day3: ROUGOULT - ASSIF N'AIT AHMED - TIZI N'ROUGOULT (2900 M) - IDOUGHMAMEN Today our trek will be between gorges and sheepfolds along the assif n'Ait Ahmed towards tizin'Rougoult. Lunch at the foot of the pass. The descent offers a magnificent view of the Tessaout valley. Dinner and night at the Camp at Idoughmamen, among the juniper trees. The positive difference in height: 900 m. Negative altitude difference: 400 m. 7 hours of walking. Day4: IDOUGHMAMEN - TARKEDIT TRAIL (2900 M). After breakfast at the camp, we start a beautiful trail of Assdremt that allows reaching the highlands at the foot of M'Goun. Along the way, discover many chasms and caves occupied during the summer by the nomads. The Ait Atta comes from the Sarhro on the plateau of the Tarkedit, from May to September, for summer, with their flocks of sheep and camels to carry luggage. Installation of the camp near the sources of Tessaout (2,900 m), on beautiful grassed lawns dominated by the crests M'Goun. A grandiose pastoral setting. Dinner and night at the Camp Positive difference in height: 900 m. Negative height difference: 300 m. 5 to 6 hours of walking. |
Day5: TARKEDIT TRAIL (2900 M) - ASCENSION OF M'GOUN (4068 M) - IZABINE SHEEPERS (2600 M)
Departure early in the morning to reach the long ridgeline of Ighil M'Goun, which we will follow to the summit at 4,068 meters. This mountain of limestone rich in shells contains many fossils on the ridge. Exceptional view of the whole central High Atlas and, in the south, the Dades Valley, the Sarhro, the hamada of Drâa. Downhill on the Oumsoud pass, to reach the camp near Izabine sheepfolds (2,600 m). A "western" and magical setting. FYI: for those who do not wish to climb the M'Goun, the possibility to follow the muleteers, who go directly to the camp. Dinner and night at the Camp. The positive difference in height: 1180 m. Negative height difference: 1470 m. 7 to 8 hours of walking. Day6: IZABINE SHOPS - TIZI N'AÏT BOUALLI (2900 M) - ARROUS - AGOUTI (VALLEY OF BOUGMEZ) A stage through magnificent landscapes of red mountains, before crossing the natural barrier of the Tizi pass Aït Boualli, at 2,900 meters above sea level. From the pass, panoramic view of the Bougmez valley and the sheepfolds of Ikis. Descent through the gorge, before reaching the troglodyte houses and the beautiful village of Arouss altitude with its mud houses. Finally, we have arrived at the happy valley of Bougmez. Dinner and overnight at the Berber house at Agouti, with traditional belldi hammam inside the house. Positive difference in height: 500 m. Negative height difference: 1200 m. 6 to 7 hours of walking. Day7: AGOUTI - AZILAL - MARRAKECH 4-5hrs drive Last "Berber breakfast" at the Berber house. Then return by vehicle to Marrakech. Lunch on the road. Arrival in Marrakech around 5-6pm. Overnight at the Riad /Hotel 4*. Day8: MARRAKECH Sightseeing. Visit the Historic site and the gardens of the red city with an English tour guide. afternoon free time to stroll the medina on your own. Overnight at the Riad /Hotel 4*. Day 9: Marrakech Airport. Transfer to the airport and return flight home. |
